Are you looking for Maui car rentals?

If you’re planning to explore Maui you’ll need a rental car. When choosing Maui car rentals, keep these cost saving tips in mind:

  • Look for a car rental and hotel package.
  • Look for packages that that include car rental and airfare.
  • Shop online.
  • Use an Entertainment Book. We buy one annually as part of a local school fund raiser. The book is $20 and the total savings in the book is easily ten times that. There are savings on car rentals, hotels, and restaurants.
  • Cars may be in short supply in high season and on holidays so book ahead.

I’m between the ages of 21 and 25. Can I rent a car on Maui?

Yes, and if you rent from Maui Cruisers or Word of Mouth you won’t be charged an extra fee. Enterprise will charge and extra $10 per day and others will add at least $25 for being young and reckless.

I’m under 21. Can I rent a car on Maui?

There is good news and bad news. The good news is you can rent a bike or take the bus. The bad news is you can’t rent a car on Maui.

Is a car OK or do I need a 4-wheel drive vehicle?

There really aren’t many opportunities to go “off roading” on Maui. Even the road past Hana doesn’t require a 4-wheel drive vehicle despite what you may have read elsewhere. Save your money for a convertible if you want something a bit more jazzy.

I just want to tool around town. Does anyone rent scooters?

Sure. Rental cars are great if you’re going to drive long distances, but if you just need to get around town a scooter can be a practical solution. Aloha Toy Store (808-662-0888) in Lahaina and Island Riders (808-874-0311) in Kihei rent scooters for about $45 and up. You need a valid driver’s license to rent.

Can I rent Harley?

You bet. If you’ve always wanted to be cool on a Harley, what better place to do it than Maui? Imagine those pictures….

Aloha Toy Store (808-662-0888) in Lahaina and Maui Harley-Davidson Rental (808-667-2800) in Lahaina both rent Harleys. Kanaka Metal Horse (808-875-4800) in Kihei rents custom bikes but you’ll have to pay $100-$155 for 5-6 hours or $130-200 for 24 hours. Hey, I said it would be cool, not cheap!

What about exotic cars?

If you are into unique cars and have some extra cash to burn, you can rent an exotic car like a Porsche, a Corvette or a Viper. You’ll have to fork over $330-$1500 per day to drive one!! There are no long stretches of straight highway to put them through their paces so you’ll have to be satisfied with the thrill of driving your fantasy car.
