Which of the spectacular Hawaii golf courses is best?

website statistics

All of the Hawaii golf courses are good so I think you’ll get a lot of conflicting opinions on which is best! Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the golf courses. You’ll have to choose based on how much you want to spend and how tough of a course you can handle.

Can I afford to golf where the pros do?

Only you can answer that question. Here are some tips on how to save money so you may be able to afford even the most expensive courses.

  • Stay at a resort on or near a golf course to get reduced rates
  • Play after 3:00 in the afternoon when some courses drop their rates dramatically
  • Move to Hawaii because residents pay less (hey, any excuse will do!)

Which island has the best Hawaii golf courses?

Hawaii golf courses are consistently rated high in Golf Digest and even Sports Illustrated on occasion. Besides, the pro golf tours often visit Hawaii so there must be some excellent golf courses here.

Let’s get back to your question. Does one island provide better golf than another?

Big Island Golf Courses

The Big Island is becoming a very popular place to golf. Most of its courses are outstanding. In my opinion the Big Island is a cool place to golf because it is the only place I know of where you can stand on a lush green course that is surrounded by barren black lava. And of course many provide spectacular views of the ocean below.

I know I know you want to know about the golf courses not the scenery!

Kauai Golf Courses

Nightly rainfall and warm, sunny days make Kauai the perfect golfing environment. There is a course that was formerly a sugar magnate’s private golf course, a world-class course that was rated #1 in all the Hawaiian Islands by Golf Digest and others that fall somewhere in between.

Maui Golf Courses

Maybe you’ve heard that Maui is referred to as the windsurfing capital of the world. If so, you’re probably wondering if golf can be any good here. Well, when we were snorkeling off the beach at Ka’anapali, the pros were on the course golfing so it must be good, right?!

The wind can kill your game so plan to be done by around 11:00 in the morning. After that the winds start to pick up significantly.
