Choose a Big Island hotel, condo, resort, or Bed and Breakfast with less frustation. I’ve listed a few (39!) here.
A detailed map is the only way to organize so many Kona coast properties.
Blue dots are places to stay
Purple stars are things to see
The purple rectangle near the top is downtown Kailua-Kona
Hover your cursor over a blue spot to see the hotel name or a purple star to see a place name.
Click on a blue spot to jump down the page to a detailed description of the property.
Or scan down the alphabetical listing of Big Island accommodations until you find one with the appropriate price, location, amenities and a good rating.
Match the number preceding the listing with the number in the blue circle to find your favorite hotel on the map.
A few tips on choosing your Big Island hotel:
Choose fewer $ and more + for a cheaper Big Island hotel with a higher rating. Click here for details.
Get closer to the action (nightlife) and also to nighttime noise by staying in a downtown Big Island hotel.
Swim in the ocean or snorkel everyday when you choose accommodations near Kahalu’u Beach Park, White Sands Beach Park, or the pocket beach in front of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. White Sands Beach disappears in winter so plan accordingly
Save money on meals if you are willing to cook while on vacation! Even if you grab breakfast and pack sandwiches for lunch, you’ll save a ton. Remember to pack your soft-sided cooler!
Stay cool with air conditioning. You’ll probably want air conditioning unless you are on the ocean with windows facing the water to catch the ocean breeze.
Avoid the expense of renting a car by staying within walking distance of downtown or rent a scooter.
Play golf while you’re here by staying near a golf course or renting a car.
See the volcano. Kilauea is about a 2.5 hour drive and yes you will need to rent a car!
I hope you find this Big Island Hotel listing helpful...

Rating: ++ I’ve read that it’s time to renovate Uncle Billy’s and there are plans to do so. Some folks have found that the rooms could be a bit cleaner while others had no complaints. The rental car and room packages are a big draw. There is a sister property across the street called the Kona Inn. Folks recommend against staying there.
